Mitsushima Hikari is torn between an older and a younger man in 1st trailer for ‘Natsu no Owari’

Recently a trailer for the upcoming movie ‘Natsu no Owari‘, starring actress Mitsushima Hikari and directed by Kumakiri Kazuyoshi, has been released.
The movie is based on a first-person novel that was published by writer Setouchi Jakucho, just before becoming a nun, under her former name Setouchi Harumi. It depicts her own experience as a woman who is torn between an older and a younger man. The novel received the Women’s Literary Prize in 1963. It was also adapted into a movie titled ‘Miren‘ in the same year, starring Ikeuchi Junko and directed by the late Chiba Yasuki.
This new adaptation is directed by Kumakiri and features Mitsushima as the protagonist. Actor Ayano Go plays the younger man who suddenly breaks up with her and disappears without a trace. The older man, a writer with a wife and children, is played by Kobayashi Kaoru.
‘Natsu no Owari’ is slated for a nationwide release on August 31st.
Check out the trailer that hints at yet another fantastic performance by Mitsushima below!

Japan Box Office Report & Trailer Park – April 27th/28th
(02) ‘Iron Man 3′ / (01) ‘Meitantei Conan’ / (03) ‘Super Hero Taisen Z’
The Golden Week means there’s many new movies and a fierce competition at the box office. After all it’s the time of the greatest profits for the movie industry in Japan. ‘Meitantei Conan: Zekkai no Private Eye‘ remained as strong as during its first weekend and defended its place at the top.
The next four places were taken by new movies such as ‘Iron Man 3‘ in second and ‘Kamen Rider × Super Sentai × Space Sheriff: Super Hero Taisen Z‘ in third place. ‘Iron Man 3′ did really well at the box office, but ‘Super Hero Taisen Z’ did much worse compared to the previous movie in the franchise. However, it’s expected to bounce back during the remaining Golden Week holidays.
‘Toshokan Sensou‘ – starring Okada Junichi and Eikura Nana – opened in at fourth place and the numbers leave much room for improvement as well. It seems that the top movies in the chart took away too many of the potential weekend moviegoers, so that the remaining movies only achieved mediocre results at best. The remaining Golden Week should fix this imbalance at the box office.
More new movies include ‘Wara no Tate‘ – directed by Miike Takashi – on fifth place and ‘The Last Stand‘ on ninth place.
Don’t forget to check out the trailers of all the new Japanese films below the box office chart!

Japan Box Office Report & Trailer Park – April 20th/21st
(02) ‘Crayon Shin-chan’ / (01) ‘Meitantei Conan’ / (03) ‘Lincoln’
‘Meitantei Conan: Zekkai no Private Eye‘ experienced a fantastic first weekend, taking over the box office chart and putting itself in great position for the upcoming Golden Week holidays.
The new ‘Crayon Shin-chan‘ film also did quite well and managed to rank in second place. Naughty little Shin-chan might actually be able to snatch a billion yen in box office sales for the first time with this installment. In third place opened the American historical drama ‘Lincoln‘.
Another anime film made it into the top ten. ‘Gekijouban Steins;Gate: Fuka Ryouiki no Deja vu‘ opened in seventh place despite a very low exposure of only 18 screens.
Don’t forget to check out the trailers of all the new Japanese films below the box office chart!

Japan Box Office Report & Trailer Park – April 6th/7th
(02) ‘Wreck-It Ralph’ / (01) ‘Dragon Ball Z: Kami to Kami’ / (03) ‘Doraemon’
‘Dragon Ball Z: Kami to Kami‘ remains on top on its second weekend. ‘Wreck-It Ralph‘ and ‘Doraemon‘ follow in second and third place, which makes it another top 3 filled with animated films again.
The rest of the top 10 almost didn’t experience any changes in the order, except for ‘Bokutachi no Koukan Nikki‘ which climbed up from 11th to 10th place. Therefore ‘Daijoubu 3 Kumi‘ dropped out of the top 10.
There were still a couple of much-discussed films, Japanese and Western, that opened this weekend, but they all failed to gain enough viewers to make it into the top ranking.
Don’t forget to check out the trailers of all the new Japanese films below the box office chart!
